Leadership Impact Review

You think strategically every day. When did you last do it for yourself?

A free, no-obligation 60-minute conversation for leaders, business owners and experienced professionals who are achieving, delivering and carrying a lot.

Step back from the day-to-day, look at five important areas of your work and life, and leave knowing what to focus on next.

Yes, I'm ready to step back and look

Your impact shows up in three places

On you. Your energy, your headspace, what you get out of your work, and whether you can keep going like this.

On your people. Your team, colleagues, clients and the people who depend on you.

On your business or organisation. What all that effort is actually producing, and where it's heading.

The Leadership Impact Review looks at all three, starting with you.

Perhaps there are a few too many "overs" in your life right now...

Overwhelmed. Overthinking. Over-giving. Over-responsible.

And maybe a few "unders" too.

Under-valued. Under-supported. Under-rewarded. Under-fulfilled.

Yet, from the outside, you may still look like you're doing brilliantly.

You're delivering. You're dependable. You're getting things done. People come to you because they know you'll sort things out.

And they're right to. You have real gifts, and people have learned to rely on them.

That's the funny thing about brilliance. When it comes naturally, you stop noticing it. Other people don't. They just keep asking for more.

Some of what's wearing you out may be the very things you're best at.

You're so good at coping that you've kept going far longer than you should have.

Until one day you hear yourself say:

This isn't working for me anymore.

It doesn't necessarily mean you want to walk away from everything you've built.

It might simply mean the way you're working, leading or living hasn't caught up with who you are now.

You have real gifts. The question is whether the way you're using them still works for you.

You've spent years being what everyone else needs.
What do you need now?

Doing it for yourself

You probably spend a lot of time thinking strategically about your organisation, business, team, clients, projects or the people who depend on you.

When did you last do that for yourself?

Not squeezing another task into your diary. Actually stopping long enough to look at the bigger picture.

What's working?
What's not?
What do you want instead?
And where would your attention make the biggest difference now?

That's what the Leadership Impact Review is for.

How the Review works

A structured 60-minute conversation, online, just the two of us.

  1. We look at five areas of your work and life. For each one, I'll ask you to rate it from 1 to 10, why you chose that number, what a 10 would look like for you, and why it isn't a 10 right now.
  2. You do most of the talking. I ask the questions, keep us on track and write down what you say, in your words.
  3. At the end, I read back what I've heard, and together we pick out the two or three areas that matter most.

If it sounds simple, it is. Deliberately so.

It works because you get an hour without interruptions, you say things out loud, and someone actually listens.

Often you'll find you already knew. You just hadn't had the chance to hear yourself say it.

You don't need to prepare anything. Just show up. There's no score to pass, and whatever you share stays between us.

The five areas we'll look at

Mission & Focus

What matters most to you now, and where your time and attention are actually going.

Impact

The difference you want to make, and the difference you're making now.

People

The people around you, the support you have, and what you're carrying for others.

Energy

Your time, your headspace, how you're feeling, and whether you can keep going like this.

Results

What you're getting back from everything you're putting in.

What you'll come away with

  • An honest picture of where you are now, including what's working, not only what isn't
  • The two or three things that most need your attention, so everything doesn't feel equally urgent
  • A clearer sense of what you actually want, rather than just what you want to get away from
  • Your own decision about what to focus on next

You'll leave knowing what matters most now.

When thinking harder stops helping

If you're used to working things out in your head, it makes sense to keep going round them.

You may already know yourself pretty well. You may journal, read, listen to podcasts, have worked with a coach, or be perfectly capable of coming up with answers yourself.

But at some point, thinking about it more stops helping. The same questions come round again. The same options get weighed again. And nothing moves.

It's hard to see your own situation clearly when you're in the middle of it.

What feels like the problem isn't always what most needs your attention.

"I need to manage my time better."
"I need to be more confident."
"I need to sort my team out."
"I just need to work harder and get through this."

Maybe.

Or perhaps there's something else underneath.

Often it's about how you see yourself, and the rules you've picked up along the way about what a good leader, a capable professional or a dependable person should be.

My job on this call is to listen, write down what you say and read it back to you. Hearing your own words from someone else is often when the real priority becomes obvious. Very often, it's something you already knew.

Where this comes from

The Leadership Impact Review is a simpler version of the process I've used at the start of my 1:1 client work for years. I've cut it down to five areas, because any more gets overwhelming. I now use it at the start of client work and again towards the end, so we can see what's changed.

I offer it free because I believe there's real value in stepping back and seeing your situation as it is.

At the end, you may decide you've got exactly what you needed and take it from there yourself.

You may decide you'd like some support.

And we may find that I'm the right person to give it.

If I think I can help, I'll explain what working together could look like. If I don't think I'm the right person, I'll tell you that too.

There is no obligation to work with me afterwards.

This could be for you if...

You're a leader, business owner or experienced professional and something is shifting. You might be:

  • stepping into a bigger role or more responsibility
  • leading an important project, team or change
  • growing or changing your business
  • rethinking what you want from your career
  • achieving plenty but starting to question the cost
  • pulled in too many directions to see the wood for the trees
  • ready for something to change, but not yet sure what

You don't need to be in crisis.

In fact, things may look pretty good from the outside. They just don't feel the way they look.

This is for when you know something isn't right, even if you can't yet put your finger on what.

Who will you be talking to?

Lisa Birtles FCIPD

I'm a leadership and transformation strategist, executive coach and people professional. I've spent 34 years working with leaders, teams and organisations through large-scale change, 26 of them as a certified coach.

I see things as a whole system, and the opportunities that come from rearranging the pieces. I cut through the clutter to make space for something better. And it's rarely one big thing. It's lots of smaller things that add up.

I'm not interested in telling you how you "should" lead your life, career or business. I'm much more interested in helping you step back, see where you are and make choices that fit you.

What could become clear if you stopped long enough to hear what you actually know?

You don't have to wait until everything falls apart before you take a step back.

And this isn't a one-off. Even if you've done something like it before, things change. You change. What matters changes. Your plans need to change with you.
